BURMESE: Myanmar's official tongue

Almost 80% of the people of Myanmar use Burmese, the official language of the country. The inception of its alphabet could be traced back to early Phavi scripts coming from Southern part of India. Because of its former oppressors and a number of colonizers, its language repeatedly gained influenced from other foreign languages. To date, Myanmar has 111 selections of vernaculars which is far too many, considering their small population.
